We are seeking an experienced laboratory manager to coordinate day-to-day diagnostic testing of customer plant samples in our ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited Testing Services Laboratory. The applicant should be proficient in all aspects of ELISA, PCR, and qPCR. Familiarity with Nucleic Acid Hybridization and Sequencing are also desired. The applicant must become very familiar with Agdia’s products as well as products from other companies. The applicant must be a self-motivated and decisive team leader with a dedication to customer service.
Primary Duties:
- Oversee and facilitate training /mentoring/management of the technician team
- Assist team in processing customer requests to meet deadlines
- Answer customer phone calls and emails for information on pricing or facilitating sample receipt
- Contact customers via phone and email to provide preliminary results or clarify test requests
- Prioritize requests and execute plans for most efficient completion of customer requests
- Import data and assign diagnoses in Agdia’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Summarize test results into final diagnoses
- Oversee lab maintenance, including inventory and overall cleanliness
- Strictly adhere to Agdia’s quality policies and systems
Skills/Qualifications:
- 4-year degree in plant pathology or related plant science field
- Experience in a plant disease clinic or third-party laboratory preferred
- Leadership experience preferred
- Working knowledge of diagnostic methods (ELISA, PCR, qPCR, sequencing)
- Strong math, organizational, written and communication skills; Detail-oriented
- A stellar attendance record
- The physical ability to perform required bench work and use a pipette/similar device for long periods of time
- Must be flexible to starting and ending shift times based on sample volume & customer demand
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Access, is a plus.
